As 2013 comes to a close, I thought I would take this opportunity to review the advancements LEIGHTRONIX has made in the past year and take a look at what’s to come in 2014. The broadcast industry is inherently an ever changing field and as a result LEIGHTRONIX must constantly evolve to meet the technical needs of our customers. In 2013 we have added new products, services, and even a new way of communicating with our customers.
Early in the year, LEIGHTRONIX was asked to partner with Northwestern Michigan College (NMC) and the Land Information Access Association (LIAA) to provide a Point-to-Point high-definition (HD) simulcast for a TEDx event in Traverse City, MI. The piece of hardware that made the simulcast possible was the IncodeX One™ H.264 video encoder, a new LEIGHTRONIX product released in 2013. The IncodeX One processed the HD-SDI output of the LIAA production system, compressed it, and efficiently delivered high quality video and audio across town in real time. For more information on how the IncodeX One was used at this high-profile event, read the full TEDx Traverse City story.
LEIGHTRONIX also rolled out the PEGstream-SD2™, the second generation of the PEGstream-SD™ live streaming encoder. With the PEGstream-SD2 came more efficient video transport, a larger native viewing window, and greater compatibility with mobile devices.
2013 also brought the latest addition to our IPTV product line, the LuxeVision ipMerge™. The LuxeVision ipMerge was designed for installations with a small to medium number of TV endpoints, allowing users to enter the IPTV world starting at just under $20,000. The LuxeVision ipMerge system starts at 50 TV end points and can support up to 500 end points within a single system, providing an all-in-one solution that includes a multi-channel video-on-demand server, an application server with middleware, and a multi-channel multicast server within a one rack unit platform.

NAB 2013 was an excellent show for us and most of our new products were introduced to our customer base there. To see these products introduced on the show floor by our President and CEO David Leighton, check out our 2013 NAB booth walk-through video.
We are very proud of our accomplishments in 2013 and excited about all of the new products and services we now offer. That excitement is only matched by our excitement and anticipation for 2014. With 32 years of experience, LEIGHTRONIX is confident our 33rd year in the broadcast industry will continue to demonstrate progress and innovation. To kick off 2014, LEIGHTRONIX will be rolling out WinLGX™ 7, the updated version of our scheduling and control software that provides new features and an updated appearance. With WinLGX 7, we’ll also release new firmware for our NEXUS® series servers and the E-HD2™ high-definition video server. The firmware provides numerous updates, including the ability to schedule virtual channel playlist files. While new products grab the most attention, LEIGHTRONIX thinks it’s equally as important to continue to evolve current products to support our existing customers. We are also looking forward to beefing up our HD capabilities in 2014 by releasing the newest product within the NEXUS series, the UltraNEXUS-HD™. We’ll also be making huge strides in the streaming services we offer. Building on the success of the improvements for our PEG Stream service, we will be making similar updates to our PEG Central® service. In early 2014, LEIGHTRONIX will also release new backgrounds for our TOTAL INFO® customers to provide them with a fresh look and a more modern appearance.
I want to thank you for your support in 2013! Keeping with LEIGHTRONIX’s tradition of excellence, in 2014 we will provide you with the high quality broadcast products and services you want as your video communication needs continue to evolve.
